ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder)

Monday, August 11th, 2008

Many are puzzled by the kind of behaviour disorder that the medical experts attribute as ADHD. It may be difficult to find good information on ADHD. We have a society that is so quick to drug medication that other solutions are often ignored. Make no mistake, ADHD medications can be very useful for many people. Whether you are adults suffering  from hyperactivity, ADD, or childhood attention deficit disorder, there are many medical options to choose. However, there was evidence that taking ADHD medication called Ritalin long term is not very good for health. It is easy to pop a pill, of course, but this is not the only solution. There is information on ADHD indicating that there are other, perhaps better choices.

I work as a tutor, and I saw many students with attention deficit / hyperactivity. Sometimes, parents come up to me and ask what to do about the problems of their child. I did not have much information on ADHD, and could only advised him to see a psychiatrist training.

One of them, however, was with a better solution. According to her, it is possible to train the brain to work more effectively. She took her son to use a biofeedback machine to form the frontal cortex to fire on a more frequent basis. This means that every time he goes to study, he is suddenly able to focus and concentrate, like everyone else. Although this information on ADHD is yet to gain mainstream acceptance in the medical community, it has already made a difference in some lives.

There is more information about ADHD, which suggests that diet plays a big factor in whether people are hyperactive. There are many remedies available natural ADD these days, but the simplest and most natural remedy is to eat fewer carbohydrates. Although there was some disagreement on whether or not a peak in blood sugar due to problems of concentration, there is sufficient evidence to make it worth investigating.

I have heard lots of anecdotal information on ADHD suggests that children raised in a family with a healthy diet do not have the same problems of concentration and focus. Although this is not the case, it is certainly worth trying. In the worst case, even if this does not treat ADHD,  it will surely improve the health of everyone. Until we have better information about ADHD, we must try all options available. No one solution seems to work for everyone, but everyone can find a solution if he tries.
